Konstantin Wecker and classical music.
Alongside his piano and his voice, instruments such as the violin, viola and cello have regularly been associated with the Munich born author, singer and song-writer.
In 2019, listeners and fans will be able to look forward to Konstantin Wecker’s extended new concert tour together with the Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian Philharmonic, with Mark Mast as conductor. This exciting „Weltenbrand Tour” will be a special highlight for all attending.
Konstantin Wecker and Mark Mast – these two names are synonymous for an almost 20-year-long collaboration. One of the projects they shared was Wecker's „Carmina Bavariae“ which premiered at the Orff-Days of the Bavarian Philharmonic Orchestra and was conducted by the Artistic Director of the Sergiu Celibidache foundation.
Mark Mast and his chamber orchestra also took part in Konstantin Wecker’s latest production, “Poesie und Widerstand”, in studio recordings as well as on stage at the sold-out Circus Krone, in Munich. It was here, where the Singer celebrated his 70th Birthday with five fabulous concerts to kick off his outstanding Jubilee tour.
2019 sees Konstantin Wecker and Mark Mast being reunited on stage once more to celebrate, through the singer/song-writer’s old and new songs, the global dream of a world free of supremacy. This will include titles such as, „Weltenbrand“, „Empört Euch“ and „Hexeneinmaleins“, of which the Munich composer wrote the latter in the 1970s to include orchestral accompaniment.
It was Konstantin Wecker’s beloved father who instilled in him his life-long love for classical music whilst still a small boy. This passion remains with him to this day.
Countless records, CDs, film music, children’s musicals and stage performances bear witness to this special musical bond.
In the past decades, he shared the stage with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, to name but a few.
His devotion to classical music simply cannot be stilled, just as can’t his fear of a continuously colder growing and desensitized world. Hence, in his new program “Weltenbrand”, Konstantin Wecker will, once again, be raising his voice against war and the growing threat of fascism in this world.
However, those who know him, can be certain, that despite the bleak sounding tour title, the professed pacifist and holder of the Göttingen Freedom Prize 2018, does not wish to spread fear, but encouragement and a joy for life, backed up by the extraordinary power and wonderful sounds of a phenomenal orchestra.
